Day 39 - 11/14/23 - At Sea to Montevideo - Day 3
Today was our last day at sea after being at sea for some 10 days or so. It was a pretty lazy day at the Zaandam motored north to our next port. Apart from our last interdenominational Bible study for this segment, our first activity was a 1pm trivia session with the Antarctic Expedition team members. They had good trivia questions about their series of lectures. Jeremy gave a nice presentation on Punta del Estes, Uruguay which is the next port in 3 days time after Montevideo and Buenos Aires.
Before lunch the towel animal zoo was on display in the main Lido pool area. Here's a couple of them.
Much of the rest of the day I spent in securing space on two penguin excursions in our next cruise. (I was successful!). The photo contest entries were displayed in the atrium, and the winners were announced after 3pm. I didn't win with my Southern Cross picture, but received a lot of positive comments about it.
During dinner with Bob & Kay we spotted a number of whale spouts and after dinner one whale put on a terrific display that was fun to watch
The evening entertainment was the cast singers without the dancers in a show called Simply Broadway. It was quite good. After the show at 9:30pm, Captain Smit led a stargazing time on the aft LIDO pool area. There were broken clouds that obscured the Southern Cross, but a few constellations were observed. Captain Smit used a cool lazer pointer to point out stars and announced that we would do this again in a few weeks and that the weather would be much warmer. Temperatures have definitely been rising.
Tomorrow we're in Montevideo, Uruguay and we have a small excursion planned.
