Day 24 - 10/30/23 - At Sea to Castro, Chile

We were rocking and rolling a bit overnight, but the seas have progressively been getting ever so slightly less rocky.  To put it in perspective, the seas have gone from around 16 foot swells to 14-15 foot swells.  There was much discussion by Jeremy and the Captain about the motion to the ocean, and salt & pepper as sugar were removed from the tables as they were sliding off.  It was pretty impressive to sit in the LIDO and face forward looking out the forward facing windows and watching the bow raise up and down the 15-16 feet.  With the downward movement came the splash of the bow as it re-entered the water.

After our devotional time, we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast.  I've switched my normal two eggs over broken with sausage to omelets.  And they are good!  Tom Goltz gave his excellent presentation on the differences between the two Americas (North and South) with a lot of historical, religious, and climate differences that separate us.

At noon after the Captain's daily position and weather report, one of our chef's did a pumpkin carving demonstration in the Lido.  It was interesting.  Below are a few pictures.

In the afternoon, Caroline presented on Castro, our next port of call.  She was followed by Tom Goltz holding an informal chat in the Crow's Nest to discuss matters relating to his morning presentation.  One interesting passenger observation was that North Americans have to be long term thinkers because they have to face winter weather.  Later, several people came by my atrium desk to chat about Cruise Critic and that hour went by fast.

Our evening entertainment was a wonderful Girl Group, Unique3.  One lady's strength was Soul music, the second's was Broadway, and the third lady's was Rock.  They could really belt out the tunes.

Tomorrow morning we will be in Castro, Chiloé (a large island).
