Day 04 - 10/10/23 - At sea to Puerto Límon, Costa Rica
Today was my kind of day: lots of free time and a couple of key lectures and presentations.
We got up at 7:15am in order to participate in the interdenominational devotional at 8:30. Jeremy presented a canned EXC talk on the Panama Canal that was pretty good. Tom Goltz followed it with a history of the Panama Canal that was very good. And with that I was done for the day except to read, lounge, walk the deck in the heat & humidity, and help fellow passengers with excursion questions for those I'm leading.
Tonight was a dressy night (formal) but we ate once again in the LIDO. One thing we're really liking is that with only 960 passengers out of a capacity of 1,400, it's really easy to find seating in the LIDO or most any venue. We had a Captain's toast before Ashley York returned to the main stage as the evening entertainment. She performed a lot of powerful opera songs. We also checked out the mix pianist who was pretty good.
I should comment that the seas are still very flat, very few clouds, and that it's very hot & humid. The Lido pool area is quite oppressive to walk through. While doing a mile around the Lower Promenade, I found a stowaway bird. There's no way it could fly the distance back to land.
There's been no word yet on a possible room change so we've still not unpacked.
After we came back to the room we received a number of Grand voyage gifts: a heavy shopping bag, a travel case, a sun hat, a wallet and a 7,000 Milli-amp battery.
Tomorrow we have an excursion in Puerto Límon for most of the day, and we have a 3:30pm on board time.
